Brass jewelry has a natural golden glow that will darken over time. Many of our jewelry pieces contain brass components. To identify if your jewelry contains brass components simply view the notes on our product pages.

Our jewelry is treated with the finest wax polish on the market, Renaissance Wax. This is a microcrystalline wax polish designed to protect and restore jewelry and antiques.

You can slow down the process and possibly even prevent tarnish it if these simple care instructions are followed:

  • Keep brass away from water. While many of our gorgeous photos show some of our brass jewelry underwater or near water…that is for stylized purposes only. Even if just a little bit of water touches your brass jewelry, you will start to get a darkening shade or, a patina. I happen to like this look because I think it gives a unique look, but if you’re looking to keep it as shiny as possible stay away from water!
  • Body oils/sweat will naturally darken the brass. While you keep away from water, make sure that you don’t wear any suntan lotion, oils or perfumes which will tarnish the jewelry. Natural body oils/sweat will enhance the patina but can be slightly buffed with a jewelry polishing cloth. Think more “lounging in a cabana” vs lying out in the sun baking with your jewelry.
  • Clear nail polish. If brass irritates your skin or you simply want some extra prevention, cover the backside (which is the side that would touch your skin) with clear nail polish.
  • Jewelry storage.  When you’re not wearing your precious jewelry, make sure you store your dry jewels in the provided clear plastic jewelry bag that is provided with your order. Ensure that all air is out of the bag and store in a cool, dry place (like your jewelry box/drawer).

Follow the simple instructions and maintain your jewelry for years to come!
